One of the more fascinating species from China is Paphiopedilum micranthum.
It is the large bowl shaped lip that really makes this such an interesting species, and the star attraction at many orchid shows.
With the petals on the flower above the lip varying in color from pinks and yellows, to greens and reds, a good variety of named cultivars are available as well as the species.
The bowl or lip is often white to pale pink which makes the flower above a standout.
