We really believe that Dendrochilum Orchids are one of the worlds most underrated orchids, but popular with collectors.
Dendrochilum wenzelii is perhaps one of the most widely grown of the species and they are relatively easy to grow. Dendrochilum glumaceum is the Hay Scented Orchid, pictured right.
A group of epiphytic, lithophytic and terrestrial orchids thet are originally from areas such as Borneo, Burma, Indonesia, The Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and New Guinea.
An attractive plant even when not in flower. Some species have very small flowers. Mnay have grass like foliage, very fine.
D. wenezlii is perhaps the easiest to grow. D. latifolium is a fragrant attractive plant.

Care
They are naturally found in shaded mountainous conditions and all require similar care to Dendrochilum saccolabium pictured right .
- Light – Similar to other low light orchids.
- Temperature – Relatively cold tolerant A range of 50 – 80 degrees F from winter to summer. (8C to 29C)
- Humidity – High humidity is required for optimum growth.
- Fertilization – Use a formulated orchid fertilizer once a month.
- Water –
- Water often enough to let the potting mix or sub strata dry completely between watering. Every 2 weeks is a guide depending on temperature.
